Oceanside Harbor Walk

Sat, Sep 27 - 9am, 1900 Harbor Drive, Oceanside
Starting from the parking lot next to the Jolly Roger, we will follow the sidewalk along the harbor, passing shops and restaurants, continuing on to Pacific Street to the Strand which runs along the beach.  We will walk along the beach to the pier, then go up the ramp and walk to the end of the pier and back, then continue walking south to Wisconsin Street at which point we turn around and return along the same route The entire walk is a 10K walk/6 miles.  Walkers may turn around at the pier if a shorter walk is preferable.
It’s a very moderate walk along sidewalks with the only incline up the ramp to the pier and down.
NO RSVP is needed… mark your calendar, invite friends and family and meet us there.
Directions:  From Carlsbad, take I-5 north, merge onto Harbor Drive via exit 54C towards Oceanside. Turn left onto Harbor Drive and proceed around the harbor.  We will park in the public parking lot just before you get to the Jolly Roger.
Rain: We will NOT walk if it is raining.
Restrooms: In the Harbor shopping/restaurant area and along the beach in two locations.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
Children & Strollers:  Yes
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, camera.
Food: Bring water, plus whatever you wish to eat on the walk or restaurants are plentiful in the Harbor shopping area.

Encinitas Ranch Trail Walk

Sat, Oct 25 - 9am - Quail Hollow Drive, Encinitas
Let’s enjoy a beautiful fall day together. This will be a casual walk.  We plan to go about 5 miles and take about 2 or 3 hours. 
From Leucadia Blvd: Go North on Quail Gardens Drive (as it curves west it becomes Quail Hollow Drive). Shortly before you get to Saxony there is a yellow gate just past a brown gazebo on the left side.
From La Costa Ave:  Go South on Saxony and turn left on Quail Hollow Drive. There is a yellow gate just past a brown gazebo on the right hand side.
Dogs:  Allowed but there are thorns on part of the trail.
Wheelchairs and Strollers: There is one part that would not be good for wheelchairs. You could carry stroller over these spots.
Water: Bring water as there is no water.
Restrooms:  No restrooms on the trail.
Parking: Roadside parking

San Elijo Lagoon Walk

We’re partnering with North Coast Calvary’s Outdoor Adventure group for a casual Saturday 9:00 a.m. walk to enjoy time with friends in God’s creation. This walk is open to everyone.  San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve is one of the few remaining coastal wetlands in San Diego County and is home to many plants and animals and is especially know for it’s rare and migratory birds (bring your binoculars!). The whole trail is about seven and half miles round trip and 3 hours. *The distance we go is up to you!
Bring: Your own water, hat, sunscreen, layers, sturdy shoes.
No restrooms.
Not appropriate for wheelchairs but some can be done pushing a stroller.
Dogs OK on 6’ leash.
Two Options for directions:
From Encinitas Blvd:
To get to the trail head through Encinitas:
• From Carlsbad take I-5 South • Exit Encinitas Blvd go East (left) the road will turn into S. Rancho Santa Fe Rd after you cross Manchester Ave • Turn South East (right) on La Bojada
• Turn South (right) on La Noria which will turn into El Camino Real for about two miles. • Parking area is on the right. • If you get to Highland or the San Dieguito Park you’ve gone too far.
From Lomas Santa Fe Dr:
To get to the trail head through Solana Beach.
• From Carlsbad take I-5 South • Exit Lomas Santa Dr. go East

January 17, 2015 - Discovery Hills Walk

Located in San Marcos, this walk starts at Discovery Lake and heads toward Double Peak. The view is amazing from the top! All levels of walkers are welcome. 
Directions:Directions from NCCC: Take Palomar Airport Road/San Marcos Blvd. East toward Hwy 78. Two blocks before you reach Hwy 78 turn RIGHT on Bent Avenue. Pass Discovery Street and turn RIGHT on Foxhall Dr. Take Foxhall 3 short blocks to the park entrance. Foxhall bends sharply to left and runs right into the parking lot.
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, camera.

February 21, 2015 - Batiquitos Lagoon Walk

This is 2+ mile level walk with beautiful scenery and views. We will start at the Batiquitos Nature Center and walk along the lagoon trail almost to El Camino Real. It will take up to two hours. Meet at trailhead parking lot at 9:00 am.
Directions: from NCCC go west on Poinsettia Lane, turn Left on Batiquitos Drive one half mile, turn right on Gabbiano Lane and park at end of cul de sac, just steps ahead is the Batiquitos Nature Center, 7380 Gabbiano Lane, Carlsbad
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, camera.

March 21, 2015 - Carlsbad Flower Fields Walk

Meet at Rubio’s in the Carlsbad Company Stores by 9am.  Our walk will be approximately 2.5 miles.  The route will take us up Palomar Airport Road to Armada Drive and above the Flower Fields for fantastic ocean view and breeze.  From there, we will walk east down Cannon turning south back to our starting point.  Some may want to stop at the Company Stores for coffee or shopping or go into the Flower Fields afterward. (Please tell the leader before you leave the group.) 
Directions: From I-5 exit at Palomar Airport Road and go east, turn right or north on Paseo Del Norte and turn in to the Carlsbad Company Stores on the right. Parking by Rubio’s at the south end.
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Restrooms: In Carlsbad Company Stores.
Accessibility: The walk is all on sidewalks, but some uphill on the first part so wheelchairs, small children, and strollers are at your discretion.
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, and a camera to capture the beauty!
Dogs: Ok on leash

April 18, 2015 - Olivenhain Trails Walk

This walk will be moderate to strenuous and between four and five miles (the first segment is uphill). A good workout and a great time with friends!
Directions: Directions from Carlsbad: Go South on Hwy 5 - exit at Leucadia Blvd and go East.  Go through the intersection at El Camino Real and then turn Right on Rancho Santa Fe Road.  Go to the stop sign at Lone Jack Road and turn Left.  Follow the road around to Fortuna Ranch Road and turn Right.  Go about 100 yards to the trail-head and park along the street. If you get to Western Springs Road you’ve gone too far. 
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Restrooms: No
Accessibility: Not recommended
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, camera.
Dogs: Ok on a leash

May 16, 2015 - Calavaras Hills Walk

Our walk will be a maximum of 5 miles with one hill with an elevation gain of about 300’.  We’ll take the Oak Riparian Loop and Lake Loop Trails and go around Lake Calavera by the dam.  There are few viewpoints that we will be able to take in.
Directions: from NCCC go north on I-5, go east on Hwy 78, exit College Ave South, turn left on Lake Blvd. Go past Emerald Drive to Ridge Road.  Oak Riparian Park (and the parking lot) will be on the right at the corner of Ridge Road and Lake Blvd. 
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Restrooms: at the parking lot
Accessibility: Not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, and a camera to capture the beauty!

June 20, 2015 - Elfin Forest Walk

The walk will be a moderate to strenuous. The shorter walk is 3 miles round trip with a 700 foot elevation gain—allow 2 hours. The longer walk to Lake Hodges lookout is about 6.5 miles round trip and will take 3-4 hours. Trail is rocky, so wear good shoes. If the sky is clear, great views of Catalina Island can be had! 
NO RSVP is needed. Invite friends (or just come and meet new friends!) and family and join us!
Directions from I-5:Exit La Costa Blvd- east to Rancho Santa Fe Rd. and turn left. Go to San Elijo Road and turn right to Elfin Forest Rd. and turn right again. Elfin Forest Rd. turns into Harmony Grove Road. Park in the regular or free overflow parking lot of Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve.
Directions from Hwy 78: Exit Nordahl and go south. Nordahl turns into Citracado. Go to Country Club Lane and turn right to Harmony Grove Road and turn right again. Turn left into Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve and Park in the regular or free overflow parking lot of Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve.
Overflow parking is allowed in designated areas on the shoulder of Harmony Grove Road. Meet at the bulletin board in the Visitor Center parking lot at 9 am. The bulletin board is next to the portable toilets.
Rain Plan: If the day is rainy the park is closed and the walk is cancelled.
Restrooms and Water: available at the trailhead and along the trail.
Accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible
Children & Strollers: Not suitable for strollers.
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, and a camera to capture the beauty!
Dogs: Allowed on a leash

July 18, 2015 - San Dieguito Park Walk

All levels of walkers are welcome. This is a nice walk with small hills, beautiful scenery and views.  San Dieguito is a 125-acre park located in Del Mar.  Restrooms, drinking fountains and parking are available.
Directions: I-5 to Lomas Santa Fe Drive. Go east for 1½ miles, turn left on Highland Drive to El Camino Real, then go right to the park which is on your right. 
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Restrooms: Near parking area.
Children & Strollers: at your discretion
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes.

August 15, 2015 - Fletcher Cove, Solana Beach Walk

Let’s end the summer together at the beach. We may be walking partly on the beach so bring appropriate footwear.  This will be a casual walk.  We plan to go about 4 miles and take about 2 or 3 hours.  No dogs, and not appropriate for wheelchairs or strollers for the beach part.  There is a small free parking lot at the beach park, a larger free parking lot on the left across from the post office, or free street parking. Parking fills up early, so carpool or come a little bit earlier to find a good spot and meet us at 9am.
Directions:Fletcher Cove is at the west end of Lomas Santa Fe Drive, Solana Beach
Rain Plan: No walk if raining.
Bring: Hat, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, sturdy shoes, snacks, camera.
