“CPR” - Child Parent Relationship Training

Give your child what they need most: YOU!
This “CPR” training teaches parents how to utilize play therapy with their own child to build attachment, self-confidence, and responsibility.
10 week class for parents of children 3-10 years.  Taught by Pam Douty, Marriage and Family Therapist.
This class is currently cancelled
If you would like to be on the interest list for future classes, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we will notify you when this class has been rescheduled.

More detailed information:
What is “CPR” Training?
Child-Parent Relationship Training is a unique approach to parenting.  It is based on the belief that the relationship between caregiver and child is deep and authentic, and as such is the perfect conduit for change.  By teaching caregivers through didactic instruction, demonstrations of play sessions, and supervision, a trained play therapist teaches caregivers how to use play as a therapeutic agent in the home.  Just as importantly, “CPR” training targets the child-caregiver relationship in order to increase communication, positive child-caregiver interactions, and enjoyment of being a parent.
How Does “CPR” Training Work?
“CPR” Training works on two levels by helping the children and the parents. On the parent side of things, “CPR” Training helps caregivers to gain a greater understanding and acceptance of their children. Caregivers learn to effectively communicate, regain control as a parent, help children develop self-control, and effectively discipline and set limits.  A trained play therapist teaches you basic child-centered play therapy principles and skills. Skills and principles include: reflective listening, recognizing and responding to children’s feelings, therapeutic limit setting, building children’s confidence, and how to structure weekly sessions with your child using specifically selected toys.  Caregivers will learn how to create a therapeutic environment that enhances the child-caregiver relationship.  “CPR” Training helps children to trust, learn boundaries, and accept limits. Behaviors and relationship then improve!

Child Dedications

What a wonderful gift children are! NCCC loves to celebrate as a church body when a family chooses to dedicate their child to the Lord. Throughout the year, there are several “Dedication Weekend” dates families can choose from to dedicate their child. Or, if you need a particular date, families can choose to have a NCCC pastor come to their home for a special dedication with their friends and family.

Please read the information below and follow the 2 steps provided to sign up for a child dedication.

STEP 1 – Understand What Child Dedication Means

The act of dedicating children to the Lord was a common practice of blessing among God’s people in biblical times.  In addition, it was also a statement of recognition, on the part of the parents, that their child belonged to God.  As Christians today, we dedicate children with the same purpose in mind.  The dedication celebration is more than a ritual.  It is a commitment on the part of the parents to honor the will and Word of God.Click here to download a handout titled “You and Your Child’s Dedication.”

STEP 2 – Choose An Available Date

*Please note that Pastor Mark Foreman may be part of the child dedication service but his presence is not guaranteed.  All pastors at NCCC share a love for children and understand the importance of child dedications in the lives of families so you will be in good hands even if Mark is not available.

UPCOMING CHILD DEDICATION WEEKENDS:
*If you need a particular date that it not listed below, please consider an “In-Home” dedication as our services are very full and it is often difficult to accommodate requests for specific dates.

Values

We believe that Regular Attendance + attending the Same Service = Good Friends.  Our desire therefore is for your child to build significant relationships with other children and adult volunteers, and we are working hard to do this through engaging large and small group interaction that is biblical, relevant, fun, stimulating, memorable and consistent.

I love seeing children “Jump to the Jam of the Great I AM” and for this reason I have the most awesome job in the world!  It is a privilege to partner with you in raising your children.
